Requests Post (5/23)

I know I just mentioned recently that you can request topics. However, I seem to have mysteriously gained a lot of followers...

Anyway, I'm going to put one of these up a week. Let me know what you want to hear about. It can be as vague as "Reagan", or as specific as "Chelsea Clinton's wedding dress", and if the Freepers have discussed it, I'll do a post on it.

ETA: I am blown away by the number of comments I got on my update post. Thanks for your support. I really do continue to post for you guys, so I'm glad so many of you followed me here.

  4. How do the Freepers feel about Israel?

With Obama's recent announcement re: Israel, and Herman Caine's kerfluffle, I imagine it's a hot(ish) topic. And I have to wonder how they'll reconcile their racism with the Republican stance on the protection of Israel.

  5. More about Michelle Obama's hair.

It's so amazingly racist that it's like a bracing shock treatment for my brain.

  6. I'm actually kind of interested in completely benign stories that somehow turn into blaming Obama.

  7. Like Jared, I like the random things that get blamed on Obama or DhimmiKKKraps in general.

  9. Anon 5:27,

Some of my first posts on this blog were about his Israel speech, actually. I'm not going to do another post about it now, because as you said, it's a hot topic and an article might pop up soon, but overall they fawn over Israel and make offensive comments about liberal Jewish voters who voted Obama.

  13. Jared and Mr. Beltway, I'll try to post those as they come along.

The spare tire thing and the wounded veteran for same sex marraige haven't reached them yet, from what I can see. I'll check again tomorrow.

  16. You have to do something on the HOR race in New York, where the D's took a seat in a district that has a large R majority.

  17. I found a fun one to request, I bet it's making freeper heads explode...

  18. I have no idea how to even search for something like this, so don't spend too much time. Maybe keep this in the back of your mind in case you stumble on it by accident?? Anyway --

It's sort of militia-related, but not so much about the groups that make the news once in a while. I'm interested in hearing freepers' discussions about militia-ish groups that they claim to take part in. Anything that hints at underground "shadow-" type military/national guard, info gathering, etc. activities, especially claiming connections to legit politicians or agencies or maybe religious organizations, with fantasies/delusions of being part of something big "when they take over".

I guess Oath Keepers might be kind of related, or Joel's Army-type groups (if those actually exist in significant numbers.)

Circa 2001-2002, I used to hang around Democratic Underground when it was smaller and friendlier and closer-knit. (Picture a brainier, funnier version of TFD and you'd be pretty close to the mark. Sure, you'd see the occasional user like that lady who told us that Hopi Kachinas were real and would punish GWB because his dad robbed Geronimo's grave, but, hey, it was all part of life's rich pageant. But I digress.)

Anyway we had our own versions of Freep Impact. When the Bush administration was making noises about starting citizens' corps of info gatherers - sort of an American Stasi, a prospect that filled me with dread - a freeper bragged about using his connections with local law enforcement to get in on this and planned on making life hell for every liberal he knew personally.

Stuff like that. I realize freepers are mostly going to be ITG/keyboard commandos trying to look hardcore, but it still could be a fun read.

  19. HC, I actually looked through the comments on FR for that article and the majority of them think it's made up and brush it aside. There are a few people who believe it, but their attitude is that Bristol needs to grow up.

Christopher, I'll see what I can do. I feel like they're pretty careful talking about stuff like that, now that they think people want their guns. Also, unlike the Freep crowd in 2001-2002, a good number of the regular commenters are woman and homemakers, so they'd be less likely to belong to such an organization.

  20. If it's not too late, I'd actually like to see a choice collection of the one-line signatures after certain people's usernames. I think I remember one that was something like "Thank God for dead 9 year old liberal scum" or something after the Tuscon shootings. I guarantee someone has to have ramped up the sociopathy since then, it's been a little while.

  21. Congrats, most recent anon, you've predicted a post I've been planning to make for a while now. I'm saving them until it's a good long list, so keep your eyes peeled.
